SSB Week 18: Secret mission, the $611 phone call, awesome free concert, May month-end

Hi everyone! Well, I thought I would tell you what our special thing was this week, but I am going to have to wait until next week. We need some things to align, and then hopefully it will all work out.

So for now, I am going to be mysterious. What I can tell you about this week involves a $611 phone call, an awesome free concert, and where we ended up for the month of May. Let’s start with the free concert. 😊

The free concert

There are some city centers near us that offer free summer concerts, and the lineups have truly been great.

After a summer thunderstorm was about to cancel one, it dispersed like a flash of lightning, and the concert ensued!

This band played all 80s hits and they really were quite great. Our pups tagged along, so you can see a few highlights from their point of view:

The $611 phone call

Since my car has still been in the shop, the insurance company underestimated the days I’d need a rental car. Thankfully, I didn’t need a rental, but they are still obligated to provide assistance should I have needed one as most people do. I called to inform them that the 13-day estimated repair was in fact taking 29 days, so they issued me another payment of $611! I had to call though — it seemed like this would not have been issued to me unless I called. I have gotten the car back, so we’ll see what the next steps are. The car’s value has now been diminished due to it being in an accident.

May’s month-end

May was a toughie one. (Do you remember that back from when Shakira was on The Voice? 😂)

But, because I had been in the fender bender, I got some money from the insurance company for transportation. That was very providential, because if I had not gotten that, we would have been overbudget by $351.35! Due to the payment, we were only overbudget by $13.35. (YAY!) And that includes factoring in the overbudget amount of $81.48 from April.

Why we would have been so overbudget: most of it was spending money on flowers and things for our yard. If I had stayed bland with just mulch, we would have been ok. But I spent an exorbitant $403.16 on flowers, mulch, and yard decorations. Plus, we got that new vacuum for $127.19.

This month, I worked the side gig on the weekends and earned a record $834 as well. So it really was a spending issue. I will not spend as much this month! (This confessional has felt good to admit, ha.)

I hope I can tell you about our secret mission next week! Have a great week!!! 😊
