SSB Week 1: $5 to spare

Hey folks! Week one of our Social Security Budget experiment was a good one. We were able to stay under budget by $5.41! And we also saved a bundle on insurance. (Take a peak at the article over at Clark.com, “3 Changes That Saved Us $1,600 Annually on Home and Auto Insurance.“)

Justin and I ran some errands and ended up shopping around at BJ’s Wholesale. I wanted to get some workout leggings and he got a sweatshirt, but he ended up returning it because it didn’t fit quite right. Turns out, the savings on the leggings was about what we saved for the week!

Clothing at warehouse clubs is a legit bargain!

That weekend, I went with friends to the mountains to celebrate a birthday. The server messed up our order, but I still left a tip, and then we went to a winery. It was a super cheap fun day, $14 for me, plus the electricity used for the car. So fun and such a beautiful day!

During the week, we ate at home every night. Our meals consisted of turkey and grassfed beef burgers with a side of vegetables, Kevin’s Mongolian-Style Beef with cabbage, keto “hamburger helper”, chicken tortilla soup, and leftovers.

For date night, we kept it simple, stayed at home and played chess. He beat me five times! I have to get better at chess.

When we went to the mountains, the restaurant had this sign. I loved the juxtaposition of the two. 😂

Until next time!
